Niche Marketing Case Study - Keyword Sniping, Article Marketing & SEO

By admin On February 28, 2008 Under Affiliate Marketing, Internet Marketing, Niche Marketing, SEO

Below you will find the details of my first Niche Marketing Case Study. This case study utilizes pretty basic internet marketing tactics (article marketing) and a tactic I learned from Courtney Tuttle at the Internet Marketing School called “Keyword Sniping“. This tactic isn’t new and I originally read the Keyword Sniping article about 3 or 4 months ago. Finally, throughout this case study I will implement all other SEO tactics I have learned throughout the past couple of years (again, nothing earth shattering here).

Domain Name: http://www.remotedatabackup.info
Domain Age: Less than 1 month
Site Creation: The site was created using Wordpress and a handful of SEO related plugins (namely SEO All In One)
Monetization: Monetized via an affiliate offer for an online backup service.

The one thing missing from most of my internet marketing efforts is consistency, i.e. recurring income. During the peak of my efforts in the fall of 2006 I earned around $1,000 for the month, which was a definite high for me. That required significant, and more important, ongoing effort.

For this case study I have decided to promote an affiliate program that pays a recurring income each month. I have built this site as I build all my sites so this is not another example of me losing focus.

The primary keyword for this site is obviously “remote data backup” and as you see I was able to purchase a domain that includes the primary keyword (which from my experience is certainly a SEO advantage).

The site has a static front page which includes a unique 500 word article on “Remote Data Backup“. I intend on posting a new article or two each week focusing on other, more long-tail keywords in order to attract more organic traffic.

This site will also be promoted via 3WayLinks (see: Niche Marketing Tools that Work for Me for more information), and the most extensive article marketing campaign that I have ever done (utilizing the Content Spooling Network), outsourced directory submissions and extensive social bookmarking.

Goal
My primary goal is actually not monetary. It is simply to rank in the top 10 of Google for my primary keyword and to receive a minimium of 100 unique visitors per day. Once I complete that goal I will certainly look to maximize the revenue of the site, prerrably via a recurring offer such as the one I am currently promoting.

Current Status: Not Indexed (site went live on Feb. 27)

I have high hopes for this case study, even though the primary keyword is pretty darn competitive.

I hope you do well, I’ve been using linktator which is basically the same as 3waylinks plus I’ve also been using backlink solutions. In addition to this I’ve been using article marketer and bookmarking demon.

I saw the details of CSN but I want to give what I’ve been doing a bit of time to take effect. Sometimes it’s easy to get a bit carried away with all these tools.

Thanks April. You are exactly right about getting carried away with tools. Right now I intend on using the two mentioned above.

I would love to hear about your experience with Bookmarking Demon. I currently outsource the bookmarking of my sites and use Onlywire (which actually seems less effective lately).

What do you think about Bookmarking Demon? Also, have you had good results with Linktator?

Regards,
Chris

I’ve been using linktator for less than a week so it’s way too early to tell, plus not that many links have been posted as it’s dripped in over time.

With bookmarking demon it’s very difficult to know if it’s working. It seems to all be about quantity over quality of links.

Whatever it is that I’ve been doing lately has been paying off. My home improvement site which I’ve been concentrating on has gone from about 30 visits a day to 200 in 2 months. The site is over a year old and I basically left it to rot as I didn’t think Google would ever like it.

200 visits a day is fantastic. Great work April. Is bookmarking demon pretty easy to use? How long did it take to subscribe to all the bookmarking services? Also, do you use a proxy when using bookmarking demon?

Bookmarking demon takes a while to get used to but when you get used to it, it’s just boring to use. I set up a few new email addresses per week and follow the instructions.

Another fan of ‘The Lazy Marketer’ I see - I like your template. For social bookmarking I use http://www.socialmarker.com, although I was just referred to http://www.socialposter.com the other day and I’m thinking of trying that. I’ve never seen the fruits of my bookmarking labors to be honest but I keep at it because everyone says its important. I’ve joined 3waylinks but I haven’t gotten up and running with them yet, am looking forward to seeing the results when I do.

Yup, The Lazy Marketer is one of the best marketing eBooks I’ve read. I am very pleased with the template as well. I also use socialmarker.com and like you haven’t seen any real results to speak of. With that said, I have seen results from http://news.propeller.com/. Of all social sites that one seems to be the best for my purposes.

I recommend that you activate 3WayLinks as soon as you can. It is astonishingly good.

Thanks for reading Dan.

Chris
